Don’t be Phil….
Did you tune in yesterday?
🦫 Something unique to my State…Punxsutawney Phil emerges to make his annual prediction on February 2.
But if I’m being honest - as a former CEO, I can relate to the rodent (and the famous movie) way more than I’d like to admit… 😵😂😩
I’ve had "Groundhog 🦫 Day" moments (weeks, months, dare I say….years 😩😩😩😩).
You know the ones:
▶️ The same meeting that could've been an email.
▶️ The recurring problem that never quite gets solved.
▶️ The monthly report that feels like déjà vu.
When I stop and really think about it, 🤨 the Bill Murray's character in "Groundhog Day" actually has something to teach us about leadership (and he learned it way faster than I did…):
The Lesson From Phil Conner:
He only broke the loop when he stopped trying to control everything and started focusing on genuine improvement - both personal 💜and in service to others.⭐️
As leaders, our own "time loops" often signal that we are applying the same old solutions to evolving problems.
Perhaps we need to step back and ask:
• Are we repeating processes because they work, or because they're comfortable?
• What patterns in our organization need disrupting?
• Where are we stuck in reactive mode instead of strategic thinking?
• Where do you seek to solve/fix another when the issue is in you?
The good news?
You don’t need to drive off a cliff or electrocute yourself to make changes.
Every day is a chance to break old patterns and create new possibilities.
🤔 Your turn:
What's one "Groundhog Day" pattern in your business that needs disrupting?
