Don’t make false choices, make ‘Two-fors!’
This week is a "two-for!" 😁⭐️😍🙌
A what? you say??
Well, in the #hustle, many of us know, you are placed in the position of choosing - family/friends or work or other (false) dichotomies that have us feeling 'split!'
These are real decisions with real consequences that weigh on us over time.
One strategy I use myself and help clients with, is a 'two-for!'
A TWO-FOR is where you combine two seeming opposing forces (or choices) into one choice or option where you are getting the benefits of both and not feeling comprised or like you are sacrificing.
Or you get both a 'relief' benefit and a 'connection' benefit out of the same action. This also is a 'two-for'
For example:
😩 I want to work out, but feel bad I'm not spending time with my kids:
✅ TWO-FOR = Play a sport with him, or go for a walk, throw the baby in the stroller and go for a run!
😩 I have too many projects on my plate and feel overwhelmed:
✅ Gift an up-and-coming employee with the opportunity to stretch into an assignment to help you out!
😩 You are so stressed out from your team's dysfunction you want to avoid them.
✅ You take a walk after a particularly difficult meeting to separate yourself (this also helps you meet a fitness goal)
For me this week, my two-for was family and Vistage Worldwide, Inc. conference.
Held in #orlando with The Walt Disney Company it's not hard to create this two-for! With husband and young kids in tow, we had plenty to fill the time.
Next time you feel pulled in two directions, ask 🤔, can I make this a "two-for"????
